An award-winning book designer, Caleb Cain Marcus has long promoted the making of books as an art form in its own right. This summer, he furthers his philosophy through an actual art exhibition — A Thousand Rectangles: On Design and the Expression of Art — hosted by the Griffin Museum of Photography from May 30 - July 26, 2026.
To explore the nature of his medium of choice, Cain Marcus deconstructs and dissociates some of his studio’s products from their original form and purpose. By doing so, he creates pieces that celebrate the enduring beauty and magnetism of books, as well as their power to inspire.
